Average Jo Triathlon

Race Day is June 27, 2026

Kinship of the Perham Area is hosting the 20th annual Average Jo Triathlon on Saturday, June 27th at Paul Miller Park just north of Perham, MN. The Average Jo consists of a 1/3-mile swim in Little Pine Lake, then transition to your bike for a 12.5-mile bike ride, and end with a 3.1 mile run to Arvig Park.

7:00-8:00 am – Registration check in/body marking at the Paul Miller Park entrance under the tent located near the transition area of the race. Same day registration is available,but you may not get a race shirt.

8:15 am – Race meeting at the Lake where swim will start. Information given regarding course, heats, rules, safety, etc.

8:30 am – First heat start for swim.

10:30 am – Awards handed out at registration tent

Swim: 600M

Starting at the public beach near the entrance to Paul Miller Park, athletes will do a clockwise slightly rectangle swim in Little Pine Lake that finishes on the beach. The average water temperature for late June is low to mid-50s but can be colder depending on the weather leading up to race day. The water depth is approximately 8 feet deep. Spectators can view the race from several locations on the Paul Miller Park shoreline.

Bike: 20K (12.5 miles)

Bike along the scenic lakes area of Ottertail County. Enjoy lake views, sprawling pastures, and low traffic. The route is a challenging lollipop, with rolling terrain that includes a couple of climbs. (certified helmets are required)

Run: 5K (3.1 miles)

Leave Paul Miller Park and run along the beautiful Lakeside golf course and Arvig Park in North Perham. The course features a paved bike trail that is off the road and lots of spectator support!
